Lightly boiled and peeled sweet potatoes or yams (sliced)
Alternate slices of potato with slices of apple. Crumble the sausage over the slices, season and pour on the syrup. Dot with the margarine and bake in a moderate oven until the apples and potatoes are soft and it is nicely browned.
Poster's Notes:
If you are interested in reducing calories you can substitute butternut squash for the sweet potatoes, but this is not for us sugarly-challenged, unless you substitute with either the sugar-free pancake syrup or a non-nutritive brown sugar substitute.

Nutritional Info Per Serving: N/A
Peeled, cored and sliced apples
Margarine or butter
Maple syrup (honey or brown sugar can be used, but it will not be quite the same)
Vegetarian "breakfast" type sausage
Pepper, salt and herbs like thyme to taste
This is not really a recipe as the amounts are totally not fixed, but should work very well for a Thanksgiving fall dish.
