Fennel, Pastrami-Wrapped (M, KLP, TNT)
Source: Adapted from a treif recipe
Serves: Varies, depending on size of fennel bulb

Fennel bulbs
Pastrami slices or other smoked meat slices

Wrap whole fennel bulb in pastrami, fry beef or any thinly sliced meat, preferably fatty. Wrap in plastic tightly and refrigerate if necessary to mold the meat to the fennel.

Brown in a pan in a small amount oil, then roast in oven at 300°F for about 2 hours. Cool 10 minutes. Slice with a serrated knife.

Poster's Notes:
I have successfully made this without the wrapping, refrigerating and browning step. Some of the slices of fry beef tend to fall off, so the last time I wrapped it all in parchment paper before roasting and that worked well, too.
