6 large onions, sliced thin
In a frying pan sauté onions in butter until crisp. If desired, add a tsp. of sugar to speed up the crisping.
Place cooked onions in crockpot or slow cooker. Add broth, Worcestershire, and bay leaves. Cook on low 6 hours.
Throw away bay leaves before serving. When serving, top with croutons and cheese.
