Mushroom-Barley-Bean Soup (P)
Source: My mother's friend, Malca
Serves: 6

3 onions, diced
1 cup canned or fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup barley
2 carrots, diced
3/4 cup lima beans
14 cups water
Garlic powder
1 tablespoon chicken soup powder

Brown mushrooms and onions in oil until transparent. Put in pot.

Put the rest of the ingredients in the pot. Bring to a boil. Lower flame and simmer for 3 hours.

Poster's Notes:
Malca says canned mushrooms are preferred, they last longer when reheated.

My mom says her friend Malca's recipe is the best mushroom barley soup she's ever had.
