Gazpacho I (P, TNT)

Serves: 8-10

4 tablespoons white wine vinegar
2 cups fresh white bread crumbs (8-10 slices)
4 large cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons salt (I used 3 tsp. + 1/2 tsp. white pepper)
8 tablespoons olive oil
12 very large, ripe tomatoes, peeled (I didn't peel) and chopped coarsely
3 cups ice water
1 large cucumber, chopped
2 large green peppers, chopped
1/2 red onion, chopped (my addition)

Sprinkle vinegar over bread. Stir in garlic, salt and oil. Combine in processor until smooth. Pour into bowl; add chopped tomatoes. Refrigerate. (It is best if this is done the day before serving).

Just before serving, add 3 cups ice water. Garnish with cucumber, peppers and onion. I also made available Tabasco for those who need the "bite."
