Caramel Sauce I (P)
Yield: About 2 cups

2 cups water
2 tablespoons margarine
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons water

In a saucepan, combine 2 cups water, margarine, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil, and remove from heat.

In a small cup, mix together cornstarch and 3 tablespoons water. Stir mixture into sauce. Cook over medium heat and heat through for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

Poster's Notes:
I went searching for a pareve/vegan caramel sauce recipe and found this one at It is intended to be served hot, and the notes say that the sauce is thin, but it seems like once it's cooled it should thicken. Even if it doesn't this has the right ingredients to create the appropriate flavor.
