1 cup apple cider vinegar
Mix all ingredients except mustard and water in a saucepan. Bring to a quick boil, then simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Dissolve the mustard in the cold water, then thin with some of the hot vinegar sauce. Mix the mustard into sauce. Let cool and store in the refrigerator.

2/3 tsp. thyme
2 tablespoons peanut oil
1 cup onion, minced
1/2 tsp. salt
1-1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 tsp. black pepper
2-1/2 tsp. dry mustard
5 tsp. cold water
As a matter of fact, lol.... Tar Heel would be referring to North Carolina BBQ Sauce. I've had this on chicken, beef and even lamb. Trust me there is great rivalry regionally regarding BBQ sauces in the South:-) Karen in TN (where it's called TN mopping sauce. :-P )
