1 lb. ground beef
Heat the corn oil and sauté the chopped onions until transparent.
Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Discard the pan juices.
Add 1/2 of the package of taco seasoning, mix well, cook for five minutes. Taste for salt and pepper and cool to room temperature.
To Assemble:
Serve at room temperature. You won't need any dressing. When the ingredients are combined on individual plates, the flavors are well flavored without any dressing. You might wish to serve, however, a little hot sauce alongside.

Nutritional Info Per Serving: N/A
1 onion, chopped finely
1 envelope taco seasoning powder (I use no more than 1/2 of the package)
1 bag tortilla chips, broken up a little
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
Black olives to taste, finely chopped (I use a lot)
Pareve cheese, shredded (optional)
Corn oil for sautéing the meat
Salt and pepper
On a platter, preferably with rimmed sides, place a layer of the chips then cover them leaving about a one inch border, with the meat also leaving a small border, then the lettuce, tomatoes, olives and, if you are using it, the cheese. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
This is to answer the request for Taco Salad. I dislike Mexican-American food where all one can taste is the overwhelming chili powder. This recipe I have scaled so that all the flavors can be tasted and the chili flavor is mild.
