5 large Spanish onions
Soak lentils in boiling water for a few hours or overnight.
Sauté onions in oil until they are dark brown-almost starting to burn. Meanwhile cook rice with water. Let rice and onions cool.
When cool, mix rice and onions together. Add drained lentils. Season with salt and pepper. (It needs A LOT of salt to give it a good flavor; keep tasting it.)

This is a variation of mujadera. I'm not sure the authentic one tastes like this, although this is delicious.
