2/3 cup sugar
Bring sugar, water, and almond liqueur to a boil in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Add cranberries, stir, and return to a boil. Reduce heat and boil gently, stirring occasionally, for about 8 to 10 minutes or until cranberries pop.
Remove from heat, add orange juice and zest, and cool. Just before serving, fold in almonds.

1 tablespoon orange zest, cut julienne
1/3 cup almond liqueur
3 tablespoon toasted sliced almonds
12-ounce package fresh or frozen cranberries
I tasted this at a recent Holiday Potluck. It's wonderful. Sweet and tangy, and much better than the old, canned stand-by!
