4 chicken quarters, cut in half
Dice large onion and place in large pot or Dutch oven. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Place chicken pieces on top of onions, in one layer if possible. Start cooking on low flame. Onions will start to sweat so the chicken won't burn.
Make meatballs: combine meat, egg, grated onion, and matzo meal. Season to your taste; I use white pepper and garlic powder only. (If needed add more matzo meal until meat holds shape).
Make small meatballs and place on top of chicken. Continue to cook on low flame until meatballs take on a grayish color. Pour tomato sauce over the chicken and meatballs. Cover and let simmer for about 35 minutes.
