1 quart strawberries
Wash berries and hull (remove stems).
Put one third of the berries in a sauce pan and crush. Mix sugar and cornstarch and add to crushed berries along with the lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens. Cool.
Cut remaining berries into slices and mix with the cooked mixture. Add a few drops of red food coloring, if desired, to the cooked mixture before adding the uncooked berries.
Pour the entire mixture into baked the pie shell and chill completely.
Optional: Whip the cream and serve pie topped with whipped cream.

I have have made this recipe a few times, and it is delicious and so easy!
