4 cucumbers (Kirby prefered), sliced as thinly as possible
Toss the cucumbers in a colander with the salt and let drain for 1 hour.
Boil the vinegar, sugar, and water and let cool.
Drain the cucumbers, place in a bowl and add the onions and dill. Pour the vinegar mixture over the cucumber mixture and mix well. Cool and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

1 red onion, sliced as thinly as possible
1 tablespoon fresh dill or 1/2 teaspoon dried dillweed
