Fluden, Nana's (D/P, TNT)
Source: Family recipe
Yield: 12-16

Dough:
1/2 kilo flour
200 grams butter
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
1/2 orange

Apple Filling:
1 kilo cooking apples
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp. apricot jam
pinch of cinnamon
1 tsp. oil

Nut Filling:
1/4 kilo walnuts chopped finely
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp. apricot jam
1 tsp. oil

Dough:
Mix together butter and sugar add egg yolks and the juice from half an orange to form a dough. Divide into 4 equal pieces, cover with plastic wrap and leave to rest until you have the filling mixtures ready. Once mixtures are ready, roll out dough evenly so that it fits the baking dish edge to edge.

Apple filling:
Cut and core apples into 4, then cut into thin slices. Place apple pieces into a pot with no water and steam (or 4 minutes in the microwave on high). When soft add sugar, jam, cinnamon and oil, mix together and leave to rest.

Nut filling:
Mix all the ingredients together.

Poppy Seed Filling:
Mix all the ingredients together and add less or more sugar depending on taste.

The fluden should be layered in this way:
Walnuts - top layer
Poppy Seed - middle layer
Apple - bottom layer
Bake for 1 hour at 350°F.

Poster's Notes:
Here is the recipe that I speak so highly of. I hope that you all enjoy it as much as I do.
