2 lb. broccoli
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Trim broccoli and chop. Bring 2 quarts of water to a rapid boil and boil the broccoli several minutes. Drain well and plunge into cold water. Blot dry with paper towels and put into a large bowl.
Heat oil in a large skillet. add onion and cook over medium heat until soft but not brown. Add the onion mixture to the broccoli.
Stir the egg and herbs into the broccoli mixture. Stir in the matzo meal and salt and pepper.
Transfer to an 8"x8" baking dish and bake about 45 minutes until the top is golden. Cut into squares for serving.
