Meringues, Toasted Almond (P, KLP, TNT)
Source: My mother
Serves: varies as to size of meringue

2 egg whites
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp. KLP baking powder
1/2 pound almonds
1 tsp. vanilla

Toast almonds in the oven.

Beat egg whites until stiff. Add baking powder and brown sugar. Set bowl in a pan of simmering water and beat for 7 minutes. Add cooled nuts.

Bake on a wax paper lined sheet at 200°F for 40-50 minutes.

Poster's Notes:
This recipe is delicious. You could probably eliminate the baking powder for Pesach.
