1 stick unsalted butter or margarine
Cream sugar and butter together, add eggs, mashed bananas, vanilla, almond, raisins, and nuts. Mix well.
Add dry ingredients. Mix well. Dough will be sticky.
With wet or oiled hands, shape into long thin loaves (about 1" wide) on greased cookie sheets or parchment paper.
Bake in preheated 300°F oven for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and slice while hot.
Place slices on their sides on a clean cookie sheet. (I line this one with foil ) Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar. Broil till lightly brown. Keep oven door open and watch it; it burns in seconds. Turn slices over and repeat.

Many years ago my mother tasted this at a friend's house and begged the recipe from its originator. I have been making it for years. It never gets really hard like true mandelbread but it is oh so good! Even my spoiled dog is crazy for it. It freezes beautifully.
