Cream Cheese Cookies II (D, TNT)

Yield: 2-4 dozen

1 cup butter
1 3-oz. package cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon orange rind (optional)
2-1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Cream butter, cream cheese, and sugar well. Beat in egg yolk, vanilla, and orange rind.

Gradually blend in flour, salt, and cinnamon which have been sifted together. Form cookies on ungreased sheets. Bake 350°F for 12-15 minutes. Remove at once to cooling racks.

This recipe comes from the Mirro Cookie Press Book. The dough should be flexible enough to shape anyway you want since it is stiff enough to use in a press.

I have made these successfully without the cinnamon and orange rind for a plain cookie. That is why I list them as optional.
