Combine all but chocolate chips and peanuts. Spread in greased jellyroll pan.
Bake 25 minutes at 350°F. Sprinkle with chips.
When they soften, spread them over to cover cookies. Sprinkle with peanuts, if desired. Cool and cut into bars.

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter; any kind
1/4 cup margarine
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
12 ounces chocolate chips
chopped peanuts; optional
