1/2-2 cups cholent mix (purchase in kosher supermarkets)
Rinse and soak the beans overnight. Drain and add to crockpot in the morning.
After adding all this to the crockpot, I recently began adding a roll of the vegetable kishke wrapped in foil that was recently posted. It is delicious baked in the oven, but even better after cooking in the crockpot overnight (I make a few at a time and freeze, then add straight from the freezer).
At lunch you unwrap and slice it, it's brown and yummy, and considering everything, not too too fattening. If anyone wants the recipe and can't find it on the list, I'll be glad to post it.

OR mix kidney beans, lima beans, navy pea, etc.
1/2-1 cup barley
2-3 potatoes, cut into chunks
1 large onion, sliced
salt and pepper to taste
splash ketchup or barbecue sauce (optional)
1-1/4 pounds cubed stew meat
This recipe is constantly evolving. This week I added paprika and a clove of garlic with good results. The right amount of salt and pepper is determined by trial and error, but better put add less rather than more in the beginning.
