Cracker Jack I (P, TNT)

Serves: varies

2 cups sugar
1 cup molasses
2 tbsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Boil first 3 ingredients until syrup cracks when tested in cold water.

Remove from heat and add baking soda. Beat briskly and pour over popped corn.

Poster's Notes: This is the one my mother used to make when we were kids. I am copying it exactly as it appears in the "People's Home Library" - a book that was my grandfather's - printed about 1909. Haven't made it in years, but we sure thought it was good.
