Coffeecake, Mocha Streusel (D/P, TNT)
Source: Detroit Jewish News, 2/9/96
Serves: 9

1/4 cup light brown sugar
2 oz. milk chocolate, chopped
1 tbsp. butter, cut in small pieces
2 tsp. instant espresso
2 tsp. cinnamon
1-1/4 cups plus 1 tbsp. all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
3 tbsp. butter, melted

Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease an 8" square baking pan.

For streusel, gently combine sugar, chocolate, butter, espresso, cinnamon, and 1 tbsp. flour. Set aside.

In separate bowl, combine the remaining flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In another bowl, beat milk with egg and melted butter to blend. Pour all at once into dry mixture and stir just until evenly moistened. Pour into prepared pan. Sprinkle streusel evenly over top. Bake about 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool slightly, and cut into squares.

I made the cake pareve by substituting margarine and milk. I also used regular coffee instead of the espresso.
