Bread, Fig and Pecan (D, TNT)

Yield: 4 mini-loaves

1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1 cup finely chopped figs
1 tablespoon grated orange rind

Orange Honey Glaze:
3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
2 tablespoons chopped pecans

Make Bread:
Beat together first 5 ingredients until blended. Combine and add the next 5 ingredients and stir until dry ingredients are just moistened. Do not overmix.

Divide batter between 4 greased and lightly floured mini-loaf foil pans (6"x3"x2"), place pans on a cookie sheet, and bake in a 325°F oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a cake tester, inserted in the center, comes out clean.

Allow to cool for 15 minutes and then remove from pans and continue cooling on a rack. When cool, spoon and brush tops with Orange Honey Glaze.

Make Orange Honey Glaze:
In a one-cup measuring cup, stir together all the ingredients and place in a skillet with simmering water, until honey is thinned and easily spread. (Don't dump the honey mixture in the skillet, just put the cup in the pan)
