Dilled Cheese Bread (D, TNT)
Source: Dorothy Huddleston
Serves: 8

1 package yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup cottage cheese
2-1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. dill (I use more)
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. onion

Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl.

Heat cheese until lukewarm; stir into yeast. Blend in salt, sugar, onion, dill, soda and egg and mix well.

Beat in flour gradually, scraping bowl, then beat vigorously about 20 strokes. Dough will be sticky and heavy. Cover and let rise for one hour. Stir dough down. Spoon into greased round pan.

Cover and let rise 45 minutes. Bake at 350°F for 50 minutes until golden brown. Remove from pan immediately and cool.

A 9" cake pan will result in a somewhat "flatter" loaf (this is what we had last Thursday).

Poster's Notes: We had dinner with some friends one evening last week, and I managed to mooch a recipe. :-) We had a dairy & veggie dinner and this bread was absolutely wonderful! Next on my list is to get the recipe for the green beans & carrot dish (there were green beans, sliced carrots, olive oil, oregano, etc...wonderful!)
