100ml (about 3 oz.) lukewarm water
Place ingredients into machine per manufacturers instructions (above order is the right way for the Black & Decker). Start dough cycle.
When cycle is complete, remove dough and shape as desired. Place on a lined or sprayed cookie sheet and and let rise, (I cover it with a tea towel) in a warm, draft free place until almost doubled. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Preheat oven to 350°F and bake until golden brown and loaf sound hollow when tapped on the bottom, about 10 to 15 minutes for the rolls, 20 to 25 minutes for the loaves.

2 tsp. wheat gluten
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. bread machine yeast

This is a very sweet challah, that comes out soft and squishy, the way my family likes it (after I got married, it took several months of trial and error to get it just right). It is also a rather small recipe, yielding 2 medium loaves or 4 small rolls, which is great for just a couple or "starter" family. For company or on holidays, I simply double the recipe. I have a Black
& Decker breadmaker that is several years old, use it at least 3 times per week and it is still working fine, although I am ready for a new one.
