Bread Machine Challah, Sweet (P, TNT)
Source: Self
Yield: 2 medium braided loaves or 4 small rolls

100ml (about 3 oz.) lukewarm water
1 tbsp. margarine
1 egg
2 cups bread machine flour
2 tsp. wheat gluten
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. bread machine yeast
Egg wash (1 egg mixed together with a little bit of water)
Sesame seeds, if desired

Place ingredients into machine per manufacturers instructions (above order is the right way for the Black & Decker). Start dough cycle.

When cycle is complete, remove dough and shape as desired. Place on a lined or sprayed cookie sheet and and let rise, (I cover it with a tea towel) in a warm, draft free place until almost doubled. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Preheat oven to 350°F and bake until golden brown and loaf sound hollow when tapped on the bottom, about 10 to 15 minutes for the rolls, 20 to 25 minutes for the loaves.

Poster's Notes:
This is a very sweet challah, that comes out soft and squishy, the way my family likes it (after I got married, it took several months of trial and error to get it just right). It is also a rather small recipe, yielding 2 medium loaves or 4 small rolls, which is great for just a couple or "starter" family. For company or on holidays, I simply double the recipe. I have a Black & Decker breadmaker that is several years old, use it at least 3 times per week and it is still working fine, although I am ready for a new one.
