1-1/4 cup water
Place in bread machine in this order. Put machine on manual/dough cycle. This will be a 1-1/2 hour cycle. When dough is done, take it out, put on floured board and beat in down.
Divide dough in half and then into 3 or 4 strands for challah braiding.
Spray cookie sheet with vegetable or olive oil spray. Put braided challah on pan, cover with clean towel. Let sit until doubles (about 1/2 hour).
After loaves double, can brush with egg yolk or whole egg. Bake at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes until brown.

2-1/4 tsp. yeast
This is my very favorite challah. It makes a sweet bread. I don't know where it comes from, it's been passed between friends for years.
