Bread Machine Challah I (P)

Yield: 2 loaves

2/3 cup water
3 tbsp. oil
1 egg
1 egg white, save yolk for the egg wash
3-1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup plus 2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 package yeast (2-1/4 tsp)

Place ingredients in the bread machine in the order listed. Before adding the yeast, make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Place the yeast in the well. Set machine on the dough setting.

When dough is ready, form it into two braided challot. Brush with an egg wash and sprinkle with poppy seeds if desired. Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 minutes.
