1 tbsp. active yeast
Combine yeast, warm water, and sugar. Let set for 5 minutes or until foamy.
Add oil, salt, eggs (reserving the 1 tbsp. for later) and flour. Knead, beat, mix until dough is smooth, shiny, and almost cleans sides of bowl.
Oil a large bowl, place dough inside and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a lightly dampened towel and let rise until double in bulk, approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
Punch down and knead until smooth and shiny, approximately 2 minutes.
Divide dough into desired number of balls for braiding or shaping.
Braid or shape and cover with towel again. Let rise for another 45 to 60 minutes, until doubled in bulk.
Brush loaf with reserved egg, and sprinkle with garnish. Bake at 375°F for 35 to 45 minutes.
