1 clove garlic, peeled (optional)
For Marinade (optional):
Preheat the broiler.
If you want a garlic flavor, rub the clove of garlic vigorously on both sides of the steak.
Rub with oil and place the meat on a rack over a drip pan. Broil 1-1/2" beneath the element 4 to 5 minutes each side for medium, 3 to 4 minutes for medium-rare.
Remove, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and carve diagonally across the grain into thin slices.
For Marinated London Broil:
Remove, pat dry with paper towels, and follow the recipe above, eliminating the salt, pepper and garlic.

1-1/2 tbsp. KLP vegetable oil
Salt
Freshly ground pepper
3/4 cup red wine
1/4 cup oil
1 small onion, chopped
1 tbsp. oregano, crumbled
1 tsp. salt
Early in the day, mix marinade ingredients. Marinate the steak in this mixture until ready to cook.
