Brisket, Sweet and Sour IV (M, KLP, TNT)

6 onions, sliced and chopped
6 pound brisket or side of steak
1 cup ketchup/catsup
2 tbsp. lemon juice
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 10-1/2-ounce can tomato soup
1 can small whole potatoes or cut up potatoes

Brown onions in a small amount of olive oil. Take onions out and refrigerate.

Brown meat on all sides on top of the stove. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Cover and lower the heat to a simmer and cook for 2-1/2 hours. Take meat out and slice. Put the meat back into the pot with the browned onions. Mix tomato soup, ketchup/catsup, and brown sugar and put into pot.

Add either canned small whole potatoes or cut up potatoes and cook for another 30 to 45 minutes.

Excellent also with potato pancakes.

Poster's Notes:
I have made the same brisket for the past 15+ years. I used to use my mom's recipe with onion soup mix. Even she loves mine more!!
