Ripe avocados (not too firm, you should be able to squeeze them gently near the stem and feel them give a little)
Salsa
Onions, very finely diced
Garlic, very finely diced
Mash up the avocados and then add the other ingredients to taste.

This is the way I learned to make guacamole, growing up here in the Southwest where you rarely see the yummy flavor of avocados diluted with tomatoes or crunchy vegetable.
