No Onions? Impossible!
My mother always put onions in her chicken soup and it was served to us that way on Friday night, until the fourth child arrived and was able to speak up at the dinner table. Would not eat the soup until it was strained clear. We kind of resented the obvious favoritism.
I would not think of eliminating onions from that soup or any other soup unless I replaced it with leek. A world without onions--unthinkable. I get panicky if I am down to my last two or three. And I put cut up scallions in my steamed vegetables.
