Chicken Soup II
This reminds me of a story my Mother, of Blessed Memory, used to tell.
My brother was very young and loved chicken soup. Upon being served soup by my great aunt, Tante Sadie, of Blessed Memory, he asked for a large portion but, without the "chicken feathers" please.
Tante was appalled as she was the most meticulous of homemakers and not a pin feather remained on her
chickens. The "feathers" were the floating dill leaves!
I make very traditional chicken soup - chicken, onions, carrots, celery, parsnips, dill (sometimes leek and/or parsley). However, if available add
marrow bones as my family loves them. In recent years I also add more fresh veggies, i.e., zucchini, sweet potato, turnips, acorn squash.
Best regards and Shabbat Shalom,
Chaya in beautiful sunny Yerushalayim on Yom Yerushalayim :-)
